Whether you're hosting, promoting or vending at a music concert, location film/photo shoot, festival, farmers market, spiritual gathering, sports event, wedding, ultimate fighting match, you name it, you will need at a minimum a general liability policy to cover your event insurance liability.

The most important aspect of special event insurance is alcohol related liability. No matter what kind of party you're throwing, if you provide alcohol or a bar, you will need at a minimum host liquor liability policy, which is common in most but not all special events insurance policies.

Another aspect to your event insurance liability is 'trip and falls', which often hold the party host and facility liable if a lawsuit ensues. Broken bones and small dental claims may arise and the general liability of a special event policy may cover these claims.

A rented facility will want to be named as an 'additional insured' on a certificate of insurance provided by an agent or broker. Typically, facilities request general liability limits of $1,000,0000 or more. The agreement to provide insurance is found in the indemnification section of a rental contract.
