Show Insurance & Concert Insurance
The terms of concert and show insurance vary greatly since there are so many different genres of music and types of shows. Certain musical acts can be a bit tricky to insure including rap, hip-hop, punk, metal and to a lesser extent hard rock concerts. The exposure is the crowd’s safety, which is hard to control. Potential problems that occur during or after shows include riots, property damage, injuries, assaults, thefts and a host of other criminal activities. Guess who's responsible? The promoter and the musical acts are going to be sued by individuals, cities, venue owners, businesses and any entity claiming damage. Even if you represent a touring children's theater group, you have many exposures that can’t be completely controlled. Alcohol plays a part in plenty of claims as well as 'slip-and-falls', food illness or other vendor related accidents. A promoter needs sound advice from a professional specializing in the live entertainment business. Loss control and action plans should be created with a risk management focus to be certain security and evacuations are in place. Many promoters want to hedge their investment with cancellation and non-appearance policies. Weather is very hard to predict and may have a financial cost to an event promoter. A small investment can cover your expenses if the venue becomes unusable or destroyed before you can reschedule or relocate the event. Another risk includes the non-appearance of performers, entertainers and speaking professionals.
